Truckee-Lake Tahoe Triangle Loop
- Truckee-Tahoe, CA 96138
This is another classic ride, beginning at Paco’s Truckee Bike and Ski. It begins by heading south on Hwy 89 towards Lake Tahoe. The first 8 miles are on a wide 2 lane highway with adequate shoulder, but by 2010 was quite beat-up. Once to the Squaw Valley turnoff, you should choose the 4 mile bike path along the Truckee River. Options include a couple of scenic detours to Squaw Valley (flat) or Alpine Meadows (a moderate climb). In Tahoe City, turn east on Hwy 28, following the Lake Tahoe shoreline towards Tahoe Vista/Kings Beach. You can choose to ride into Kings Beach, or a short alternate detour through the North Tahoe Regional Park (shown on map). Both methods take you to Hwy 267, climbing over 7,200 ft. Brockway Summit before descending past Northstar and into the Martis Valley. From there, ride into downtown Truckee and back to Paco’s along Donner Pass Road.
