Spooner State Park Trail Closures

Infrastructure Improvements Underway at Spooner Lake State Park

The Nevada Division of State Parks is undertaking an important infrastructure project to enhance the long-term safety and sustainability of the Marlette Dam. As part of this effort, select backcountry trails within Spooner Lake State Park will be temporarily closed beginning March 31, 2025, through 2026. Trails leading to and surrounding the area will be closed to the public. To complete these vital upgrades, Marlette Lake will be drained and temporarily closed to visitors. While this means limited access in the short term, the result will be a safer, more resilient natural area for generations to enjoy, with many scenic trails and activities available to explore in the meantime. Find the list of trail closures at the link below.

Sand Harbor State Park Reservations

Nevada State Parks has announced the full implementation of day-use reservations at Sand Harbor State Park, required daily beginning April 15 through October 15, 2025 from park opening at 8:00 am until 10:30 a.m. After 10:30 a.m., any unclaimed reservation spots will become available on a first-come, first-served basis. To learn more about reservation tiers and additional details, visit the Nevada State Parks website.

Sand Harbor Lake Tahoe
Emerald Bay Lake Tahoe

New Emerald Bay Shuttle

At $10 per adult rider, the shuttle will provide a sustainable replacement to roadside parking. Visitors can connect to the shuttle via TART’s fixed-route or on-demand TART Connect service.
