Welcome in the new year with a bang and catch some dazzling light displays, both on and off the slopes.
New Year’s Eve Celebration at Northstar Resort
Last year, Northstar Resort’s New Year’s Eve celebration lit up North Lake Tahoe with an epic drone show. Stay tuned for their follow-up this year. This show is a great alternative for kids who might be sensitive to traditional fireworks. The drone show will have all the wow factors of a traditional fireworks show, without the noise and without the environmental impact. The drone show typically starts at 9:00 pm, and prior to that, you can enjoy face painting, live music and much more.
Torchlight Parade and Fireworks Celebration at Palisades Tahoe
Join the annual Torchlight Parade during New Year’s Eve at Palisades Tahoe. Join the festivities on skis or snowboards, light up the slopes riding up Exhibition lift with colored electric torches, and then cruise down the mountain while watching fireworks. Reserve a time slot for free online ahead and receive a torch when you arrive. First group goes up at 5pm. The evening is also filled with live music, delicious treats children’s games, and an East Coast ball drop.
Outdoor Activities with a New Year’s Eve Twist
If you’re taking a trip to Lake Tahoe to close out 2024 and ring in 2025, it’s almost a necessity to take advantage of the many exciting activities you can do in the snow. Aside from a wide range of places to ski and snowboard — in fact, Lake Tahoe boasts the largest concentration of downhill ski resorts in North America — there are plenty of places offering special New Year’s Eve outdoor experiences for the whole family.
New Year’s Eve Sledding Party Granlibakken Tahoe
Last year, Granlibakken Tahoe hosted a fun New Year’s Eve sledding party. They have yet to release tickets for this year but keep an eye out. Both kids and adults will have a blast zipping down Granlibakken’s groomed sled hill under a starry sky to a soundtrack of festive holiday music. After you’ve sledded your heart out, you can warm up in their cozy ski hut with toasty beverages and food.
Disco Tubing at Palisades Tahoe
In addition to its annual Torchlight Parade (details coming soon), Palisades Tahoe also offers disco tubing on New Year’s Eve. This fun, high-energy twist on traditional snow tubing, includes flashing lights, a laser show and a live DJ. What more could you need for New Year’s Eve?

New Year’s Eve at Tahoe Wine Collective
This year’s celebration, the Tahoe Wine Collective partnered with Wild Soul Events to throw a dance party at the Inn at Boatworks. It is a great excuse to dress up, enjoy some fabulous wine and of course, dance the night away with both a DJ and live music.
New Year’s Eve Dinner & Dance Party at Granlibakken Tahoe
Granlibakken Tahoe invites guests of all ages to celebrate New Year’s Eve Tahoe-style with a fun evening of dancing, food and good spirits in their Mountain Ballroom. Granlibakken offers a full buffet at this event, with mouthwatering options for every palate, including vegetarian options and a kids buffet for pickier eaters. Be sure to make your reservations online.
Dance in the New Year at Za’s Lakefront
Ring in the new year at Za’s Lakefront. Revelers came dressed to impress and enjoyed tasty bites and cocktails at last year’s dance party. There was also a delicious dessert buffet on offer. Check back for more details soon.
The Funk Hunter’s New Year’s Eve Party
The Funk Hunters are bringing their signature electronic sound influenced by old school funk, soul and hip-hop to the Crystal Bay Casino for a New Year’s Eve party. Celebrate with a brilliant technical display of creative collaboration between 4 turntables. Doors open at 9pm. Must be 21+ attend.
